EXERCISE

Exercise is an integral component of Physiotherapy. It helps build muscle strength, improve stability, increase mobility and improve general fitness. We always aim to incorporate exercise into our treatment programmes to ensure you return to your optimal function as quickly as possible.

Acupuncture & Dry needling

Research has shown that acupuncture (and dry needling) techniques promote the healing process and reduce pain by stimulating the spinal-cord to produce pain relieving chemicals. We can use these techniques to relieve pain as a precursor to other treatments such as manual therapy or exercise, or use Acupuncture / Dry Needling as a stand alone treatment. As AACP members we have completed stringent training in the form of theoretical and practical courses and can provide evidence of regular continuing professional development.

If you would like to know more about acupuncture, or the other ways in which it can help, please visit our blog.

Sports Injury Management

Sports injuries can result from trauma, poor training practices, improper equipment, lack of conditioning or insufficient preparation. Having worked within elite sport for over twelve years we are well equipped to deal with all manner of sporting injuries. From accurate assessment through to individualised rehabilitation programmes ensuring a timely and safe return to full function.

PILATES

First developed by German-born Joseph Pilates, who believed mental and physical health were closely connected, Pilates is a form of exercise which aims to strengthen the body, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. It has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes.

Jackie is proud to be a certified Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) instructor, trained in Matwork and Reformer Pilates. The APPI Pilates technique has been designed specifically for rehabilitation settings and the method of instruction ensures that individuals are provided with safe and scientifically researched movement patterns.

Women’s Health

Women's Health physiotherapy is the therapeutic treatment of all disorders affecting the pelvis and pelvic floor. There is growing evidence that physiotherapy can alleviate, and in many cases cure many symptoms including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain and constipation.

At Parham Physiotherapy we offer Women's Heath Physiotherapy with our Associate Emma Penny. With 15 years experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist, Emma offers her specialist assessments and treatments at our clinic in Edington.

In addition to her memberships to the Health and Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Emma is a member of the POGP (Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy) and offers Mummy MOT assessments.

If you would like to book an appointment with Emma please click the link below or call 01225 375 125. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss what a session with Emma would involve please don’t hesitate to email info@parhamphysiotherapyco.uk.

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is the skilful application of mobilisation, manipulation or massage to an area in the body in order to relieve pain and stiffness within the joints and soft tissues. We use manual therapy techniques in conjunction with other treatments to not only relieve discomfort and to restore joint range and function, but also to encourage better movement patterns.
